We at Wishtrend TV have officially declared a war against acne to help those of you that struggle with its stressful effects! Through our special series, “Wishtrend TV vs Acne,” we’ll equip you with the proper tips and products to succeed in your own personal battle against acne. If you have acne, you know how long the lifecycle of a pimple or breakout can be. We end up investing a lot of time, energy and stress into giving the care and treatment our skin needs during this volatile time, which is why we want to breath a deep sigh of relief when it’s over. But, the battle against acne isn’t over here. Without effective post acne extraction care, we can face the aftermath of acne scars and pigmentation, which can be even more nerve wracking than acne itself. So today, we’ve prepared 3 basic rules you should follow to help prevent yourself from being in this situation!

Why is post acne extraction care important?

The scary thing about acne scars and hyperpigmentation is that they can essentially be permanent without the necessary care within three months of them forming. Once they pass this stage, they become more deeply imprinted in the skin, making skincare ineffective in treating them. This is why immediate post acne extraction care is the most effective way to avoid permanent scarring, and with the use of the right products and tips, it’s possible to treat and turn back the effects of scars and pigmentation.

So what must we remember about post acne extraction care?

Directly after extracting a spot, the skin is going to be at a sensitive state in the area surrounding the point of extraction, as well as the spot itself. Because of this, it’s crucial to keep in mind these 3 basic rules!

#1. Soothe

Your main priority after extraction should be to soothe harshly irritated skin, and calm down any inflammation and redness. For this, we recommend using products that can cool the skin, as lowering the skin’s temperature helps to reduce inflammation, as well as those that contain soothing ingredients like centella asiatica, which helps to fight the irritation the skin is feeling. Rather than reaching for a heavy cream, opt for a sheet mask that has these properties. The light essence will feel good on the skin, and pose no threats for further infecting the spot.

#2. Prevent scarring

This is a crucial step in caring for your skin post extraction. To prevent scarring or pigmentation, it’s important to heal the spot and promote regeneration of new skin in a healthy manner. Specifically on the spot, and areas surrounding it, apply a thick layer of a treatment cream to ensure that the damaged are is repaired. In order to prevent further inflammation and infection, as well as to help restore a damaged and weakened skin barrier, we recommend using a non-oily product that contains natural soothing agents like centella asiatica.

#3. Protect

To protect the spot against environmental irritants, apply a pimple patch to keep the area safe and secure. This helps the healing process by blocking off any harmful bacteria, dust, and other impurities from entering the wound. In addition to his, applying a pimple patch helps prevent further infection if the spot hasn’t been fully extracted as they also contain properties that treat acne.
