The 5 green tea skin benefits to take notes on!

  1. 1. Anti-inflammatory

One of the most well known feature of green tea as a great skincare ingredient is its anti-inflammatory property! The natural antioxidants that are found in green tea is what helps fight skin inflammation. To get into a little further detail, the anti-inflammatory property in green tea is thanks to the high content of polyphenols called catechins. This catechins found in green tea helps reduce irritation, redness, and swelling of the skin. And this is what makes green tea also a great ingredient for those with sensitive skin.

2. Anti-Aging

We often see green tea be tied to being a great 'anti-aging' ingredient. What is it about green tea that makes it a secret weapon for anti-aging? It is all thanks to the Vitamins found in green tea! Green tea is filled with Vitamin B2 and Vitamin E which are both very crucial for skin's health. Vitamin B2 is important to maintain the collagen level on the skin which will enhance skin's structure. Along with Vitamin B2, Vitamin E encourages new skin cell growth and is known to be a great hydrator enhancing skin's moisture retention rate.

3. Gentle Exfoliation

Its exfoliating property helps decrease the appearance and occurrence of blackheads while eliminating dead skin, dirt, bacteria, and other pollutants on the skin’s surface, thus promoting the skin’s rejuvenation and renewal. However

4. Skin Protection from the Sun

Green tea also contains ingredients such as tannic acid and theobromine, which is known to help relieve pain and heal damaged skin. Skin cells get damaged when skin is exposed to pollutants or the sun. Among different ways to repair cell damage, adding antioxidant care on the skin is a great way to speed up the healing process. And this is where green tea steps in!

5. Acne Care

Green tea is also beloved by those with oily skin! A study found that using green tea extract helps reduce seubm production on the face. Tannis, one of the many ingredients found in green tea, is what helps to control skin's natural oil level. Not only that, green tea helps control sebum without exposing the skin to chemical exfoliators. And like mentioned earlier, the catechin found in green tea are antibacterial in nature!
