The Story on How I Fell in Love with Eye Cream Again

I had long given up on eye care products. In the morning, none of them has managed to stay put under my concealer and one of them has even caused my concealer to flake, revealing my panda eyes. At night, I tend to skip eye cream because it takes forever to absorb and I don’t like to sleep with my skin still feeling tacky. This no-eye-cream routine has worked well for me, until my early 20s - however, kissed me goodbye a few months ago.I started to notice an increasing number of fine lines and wrinkles around my eye area (which you'll see in the second last picture). When I thought all I could do was to let nature run its course, I stumbled upon Klairs Fundamental Eye Care Duo. Now, the Fundamental Eye Awakening Gel and Fundamental Nourishing Eye Butter are my favourite must-haves in both my morning and night routines.

So what power does this duo have that changed my whole idea on eye cream?

The Ingredients

[caption id="attachment_148246" align="aligncenter" width="700"]klairs-eye-cream-review-insert-image-1 [Klairs] Fundamental Eye Care Duo[/caption] Let’s look at some of the key common ingredients that the Klairs Fundamental Eye Care Duo has:• Caffeine:  As the main stimulant in coffee and tea, caffeine is long known for its ability to improve cellulite and puffy eyes and is even thought to have antioxidant properties! This little darling can help constrict blood vessels, which makes it great for dark circles caused by puffiness.  Phaseolus Angularis Seed Extract: This is basically red bean extract. It has the ability to tighten and soften the eye skin as well as promote circulation. • Artemisia Princeps Leaf Extract: A type of Japanese mugwort, this is known for its antibacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties as its extract can reduce redness and nourish the eye skin area!

Fundamental Eye Awakening Gel

[caption id="attachment_148247" align="aligncenter" width="700"]klairs-eye-cream-review-insert-image-2 The Eye Gel comes in a pump making it easy and sanitary to use unlike other eye cream products.[/caption]The Eye Awakening Gel comes with a pump. A very hygienic design which I love for skincare products!Just like its name, this is a gel type eye care product. Other than three key ingredients above, it also contains Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, which is an anti-inflammatory ingredient that can help reduce redness caused by drying. Not just that, combining the effect of Glycerin, Butylene Glycol and Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, it can help keep the skin around our eyes moisturised and the overactive oil glands under control too! [caption id="attachment_148838" align="aligncenter" width="700"]Klairs eye cream review insert image 3 "The Eye Awakening Gel is very light in texture and is cooling on the skin"[/caption]This Eye Awakening Gel feels very cooling when I first applied it around my eye area. I like to apply it at the end of the day when I am about to sleep because it helps cool my eyes down, helping me relax. The gel texture also allows it to be absorbed into the skin within a few minutes, leaving almost no trace of it behind.

Fundamental Nourishing Eye Butter

In addition to the three key common ingredients, this eye butter also contains Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil which is rich in vitamins A and E, therefore being able to protect the thin skin around our eyes. Feeling generous, Klairs has also added peptides (Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Copper Tripeptide-1, Oligopeptide-29, Oligopeptides-32) into the mix to help target fine lines![caption id="attachment_148877" align="aligncenter" width="700"]klairs-eye-cream-review-insert-image-eye-butter-texture "At first, it feels like butter but not oily and once you spread it out it turns into a light gel like cream"[/caption]This Eye Butter has a soft butter-like texture, which allows quick absorption into the skin. Despite its buttery texture, it is not oily at all and is suitable for oily skin types and those of you who dislike overly rich eye creams. Prone to milia? This could be your saviour!

How I Used the Klairs Eye Care Duo

After I have cleansed my skin, I will put on my toner followed by the Eye Awakening Gel. I normally take one pump on my ring finger and gently dab it around my eye socket. Once the gel is fully absorbed, I will move on to applying the Eye Butter in the same manner. I will also gently massage my under eye with my ring finger to aid absorption and improve blood circularisation. To maximize the benefits I get from this Fundamental Eye Care Duo, I use them both in the morning and at night. However, you can actually use them separately and I suggest you try this routine:  • Morning: [Klairs] Fundamental Eye Awakening Gel : The light gel texture and the cooling property was very suitable in the morning to help depuff and awaken the eyes. • Night: [Klairs] Fundamental Nourishing Eye Butter (for hydration): The sufficiently hydrating eye butter really helps nourish the areas around the eyes all night long. Great to specifically target your fine lines around the eyes while you are asleep.[caption id="attachment_148843" align="aligncenter" width="700"]klairs-eye-cream-review-insert-image-7 "The dry patches found uner the eyes (right) that I've always noticed during the day has disappeard after weeks of use (left)"[/caption]Just a quick tip,You can also apply the Eye Awakening Gel on the dull or pigmented area and the Eye Butter on areas where you want to improve fine lines and elasticity, e.g. neck, nasolabial folds, etc. If you own a jade roller or a rose quartz roller, use them together with the eye care duo to de-puff swollen eyes in the morning.

WHAT ABOUT MAKEUP?

[caption id="attachment_148840" align="aligncenter" width="700"]klairs-eye-cream-review-insert-image-6 Even after applying the eye cream, the foundation goes on smoothly and without leaving patches.[/caption]I need to apply concealer every time before I go out as my dark circles are really bad (thanks to my job nature). Hence, I have always dodged eye care products whenever I plan to go out because they tend to cause my makeup to get cakey and non-lasting. Yet, ever since I was introduced to the eye care duo, eye cream has become an essential before I put my concealer on! All thanks to their fast absorbing property.

EYE CARE DUO, MY HOLY GRAIL

Honestly, I never  realized that my under eye area is so dehydrated! Just take a look at the picture above and you will know. All the fine lines are eagerly trying to give my age away to everyone I flash a smile at! They have helped moisturise the areas around the eyes, reducing the appearance of fine lines, which I really appreciate! Also, they are not sticky at all once fully absorbed  into the skin.
