Find your early summer skincare routine

Just like changing your clothes to fit with the season, changing your skincare is just as important. Whilst winter is cold and our skin needs a little more moisture care with oil-based products and thicker creams, early summer is the time for lightweight creams and antioxidant-rich products to brighten and nourish skin.

Here are some tips for switching out your winter products and preparing for the long summer days and nights.

Ditch the heavy moisturizer

Whilst a thick and hydrating moisturizer is everyone’s best friend during winter to help soothedry and irritated skin, having a thick layer of moisturizer during the summer may lead to excessoil and risk breakouts. Switch to a lightweight or gel-based moisturizer with ingredients likehyaluronic acid to lock in moisture and ceramides for quick absorption. Great moisturizers toadd to your early summer routine include the I’m From Vitamin Tree Water GelRovectin Lotus Water Cream and the By Wishtrend Propolis Energy Balancing Cream.

Exfoliation is essential!

During the warmer months as we sweat more, this sweat, along with excess sebum and dirtgets trapped in pores and can cause breakouts. Therefore, exfoliation is a must! However, make sure to opt for a gentle exfoliator such as mandelic acid to avoid irritating the skin - the By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water is the perfect low-irritant exfoliator.

Antioxidants are your best friend

As the weather gets warmer, potential damage from the sun is more prevalent and thereforeskin should be protected with the help of antioxidants such as Vitamin A, Vitamin C and VitaminE. Antioxidants work by slowing and preventing free-radical damage which leads to skin celldamage. There are plenty of products available which can be incorporated into your skincareroutine day and/or night. Some products containing wonderful antioxidant ingredients include: By Wishtrend Natural Vitamin Enhancing Sheet Mask, Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask, Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop, and By Wishtrend Vitamin A-mazing Bakuchiol Night Cream.

Sunscreen, sunscreen and more sunscreen!

By now we all know how essential sunscreen is all-year-round but as mentioned in the previoussegment, in the warmer months, the sun’s UV intensity tends to be its highest and thereforeposes a serious risk to our skin. So, sunscreen is a MUST and reapplication throughout the dayshould also be upheld. In addition to sunscreen being essential, the texture of sunscreen should also be considered.During the hot weather, a lighter sunscreen with high protection is ideal for early summer. Amazing sunscreen products which are lightweight with high levels of protection include Klairs All-Day Airy Sunscreen, Cosrx Aloe Soothing Suncream, By Wishtrend UV Defense Moist Cream and Rovectin Aqua Soothing UV Protector.

Overall, it’s time to check your skincare routine and think about switching heavier products out, adding more antioxidants and exfoliating your skin to get glowy skin for early summer.
