Cleansing with Acids
When it comes to acids, the word alone can seem quite intimidating. Acids are commonly known for being dangerous for the skin, as this is what we were taught as we grew up. As an adult, we find out more about the acids that are safe and even extremely beneficial to our skin!“Okay, so what acids for skin should I use?”
This is probably the best thing to ask! Acids such as BHA’s are amazing for the skin to help unclog pores and control oil. AHA’s are excellent for exfoliating the surface of the skin to create a more smooth skin texture, as we as erase dark spots and pigmentation. Lastly, PHA’s are excellent at not only gently exfoliating, but also for adding hydration to the skin! The Review
Of course now that we know more about why we should be using acids on our skin, it’s time to dive into the review to discuss how the combination of acids and cleansing might be worthwhile! For that, I’ll be sharing my personal experience and opinion on the...By Wishtrend Acid-Duo 2% Mild Gel Cleanser!
This face wash is designed to be gentle on the skin while still effectively removing dead skin cells, excess oil, and even makeup. The cleanser has the following product claims:• Balance skin pH• Hydrate• Exfoliate• Fight acne• Suitable for sensitive skinPersonally, as someone with sensitive skin that is both dehydrated and slightly acne prone, the claims of this cleanser are rather appealing.Ingredients
Of course, what it really comes down to is the ingredients within the product that make it functional.Based on the ingredient list of this cleanser, the By Wishtrend Acid-Duo 2% Mild Gel Cleanser is rather safe to use on the skin with only a small number of potential irritants. On a whole, this product passes!“What about the acids?”
In terms of the actual acids that make this product, there truly is not a large amount within this product, which is clearly labelled on the front of the packaging as only containing 2% of the functional acids. These two acids are LHA (Capryloyl Salicylic Acid) which is great for oil control, acne, and exfoliation. The second is PHA (Gluconolactone) which gently exfoliates and hydrates the skin.In terms of the actual acids that make this product, there truly is not a large amount within this product, which is clearly labelled on the front of the packaging as only containing 2% of the functional acids. These two acids are LHA (Capryloyl Salicylic Acid) which is great for oil control, acne, and exfoliation. So we are all squared away on the formulation of the gel cleanser, now it’s time to dive into the good stuff, the texture and packaging! This gel face wash has your classic gel consistency. When applied to the skin, it develops into a smooth lather that neither feels drying or hydrating. A little easily goes a long way and thankfully the packaging comes in the form of a semi-clear plastic pump bottle the easily dispenses the exact amount your desire.Functionally, the packaging is excellent, by personally, the concept does not suit my aesthetic, making it a product I would not want displayed on my bathroom counter.Cleaning Power
In regards to this gel cleansers actual ability to wash the skin, it passes! The cleanser is able to remove light makeup, leaving the skin feeling perfectly cleansed at the end of the day without overly drying out the skin.“What if I’m wearing heavy makeup?”
Unfortunately, this cleaner doesn’t do the best job at removing heavier makeup such as eyeliner, liquid lipstick, or waterproof mascara. Do keep in mind, there was no product claim saying it would be able to remove these products with ease. With that said, you will need to use a proper makeup remover to fully remove your makeup before cleansing with this face wash to ensure your skin is properly cleansed at the end of the day.Overall Opinion
After using the By Wishtrend Acid-Duo 2% Mild Gel Cleanser for a month, I found myself reaching for it every single evening as the second step to my two step cleansing routine. I also noticed I would occasionally use it to cleanse my skin in the morning, even though I generally do not wash my face in the AM.After using the cleanser in the AM, my skin did lose moisture and hydration after use, yet there was not a significant reduction in these levels, proving the cleanser is gentle and cleanses without drying out the skin.In regards to exfoliating and acne control, I personally did not see any of these effects on my skin. I still have dry skin flakes and clogged pores in the same quantity I had before using this gel cleanser.“The perfect daily cleanser!”
All in all, I think this cleanser is the perfect everyday cleanser to get the job done if you have sensitive, combination, dehydrated skin. If you have extremely dry or oily skin, this cleanser might not live up to your expectation.
