Klairs Fundamental Ampule Mist Review & The Best Serum Combo

by bb on May 18, 2020

One of the trickiest skin types to diagnose is dehydrated skin. Dehydrated skin can often mimic the symptoms of other skin types such as dry and oily skin. The most common misconception to treating dehydrated skin is to simply drink lots of water, but in my experience, that is far from a solution.in-depth-fundamental-insert-image1

“How to treat dehydrated skin?”

Skin dehydration is not always easily treated by drinking water. In most cases, this tricky skin type needs hydrating skincare to help resolve the uncomfortable symptoms of dehydrated skin. The signs of dehydrated skin:
  • Tight skin
  • ✓ Fine lines around eyes, inner cheeks, and forehead.
  • ✓ Long looking pores.
  • Oily t-zone.
If you experience any of the above, then you have dehydrated skin. The best solution to treat dehydrated skin is to focus on a skincare routine that mainly focuses on ingredients that provide deep hydration and nourishment to the skin.

“What skincare is best for dehydrated skin?”

The best skincare is products that contain ingredients such as:
  • Hyaluronic acid/sodium hyaluronate
  • Butylene glycol
  • Mugwort (artemisia vulgaris)
  • Aloe Vera
  • Rice extract
  • Arginine
  • Lecithin
  • Betaine
The above list is examples of skincare ingredients that focus on restoring hydration to the skin, nourishment, antioxidants, and calming effects. Skincare products that contain any number of these ingredients will be essential for those with dehydrated skin.

“So, what products contain these ingredients?”

One skincare line that caters to dehydrated skin is the Klairs Fundamental line. I’ll be sharing my personal review of the Klairs Fundamental Ampoule Mist and the Klairs Fundamental Watery Oil Drop and how these two products performed on my dehydrated skin.in-depth-fundamental-line-review Klairs 2 Step Fundamental Care Set

This facial mist is designed to:
  • Deeply hydrate the skin
  • Provide a dewy glow
  • Deliver essential nutrients and antioxidants
  • Lock in hydration and moisture throughout the day
  • Vegan & cruelty-free

What makes it work?

Some key ingredients in the toner mist are:

Packaging & Texture

The mist comes in a spray bottle with a fogged plastic transparency featuring white text and accents with 4.22 fluid ounces. The spay dispenser delivers a long spray the dispenses a generous amount of mist over the face. 1 to 2 sprays is plenty to cover the entire facial area. When applied to the skin, this face mist has a gorgeous dewy glow that lasts for hours on the skin, especially when applied over-top of makeup. The mist leaves the skin feeling generously hydrated with a very slight moisturizing sensation.

Skin results & Overall opinion

in-depth-fundamental-line-review-insert-image-2 The before & after image of the Klairs Fundamental Ampule Mist[/caption] I have tested this hydrating face mist in the drier seasons and during warmer seasons. In the winter, this mist did a nice job on my dehydrated skin to provide a gentle layer of hydrated when my skin was feeling tight during the day. I enjoyed applying this during the day in moments when my face was starting to feel dry. It provided a nice “moisture touchup”.During the warmer months, I found myself not needing this mist as often as my skin tends to not get dehydrated throughout the day. I found myself reaching for the Klairs Fundamental Ampoule Mist during warmer months when my skin looked too dry and powdery after applying my makeup. Mostly using it to add a nice dewy glow to my finished makeup.Overall, this dewy skin mist is the perfect mist for those with dehydrated skin who are looking for intense instant hydration to the skin and love the “dewy” skin look. I found this product was amazing for deep hydration and making the skin instantly look dewy and remain looking dewy all day. If you don’t like the dewy look, you may not like the appearance this mist gives to the skin.

Packaging & Texture

in-depth-fundamental-review-insert-image-4 The texture of the Klairs Fundamental Watery Oil Drop[/caption] This hydrating serum comes in a thick fogged glass bottle with an eyedropper dispenser featuring white text and accents. This glow serum comes in 1.7 fluid ounces. When dispensing the product, one thing that stood out to me is that the dropper seems to have a small amount of difficulty releasing the product from the eyedropper. When squeezing the dropper, a large amount of product remained in the tube, which was not a big issue overall. When it comes to the texture of this dewy skin serum, upon application to the skin, the serum instantly feels intensely hydrating with a mild oil texture on the skin. When spreading the Klairs Fundamental Watery Oil Drop over the skin, the oil within the serum is visible as it gives the slight appearance of “beads” on the skin that soon after absorb completely, leaving the skin feeling perfectly hydrated and full of just the right amount of moisture.

Skin results & Overall Opinion

Once again, I have tested this dewy serum in both the dry winter months and the warmer months. During the winter, this serum alone was not enough to keep my skin feeling hydrated and moisturized throughout the day without assistance from other serums and creams. On its own, it was not enough for my dehydrated skin during the winter. However, in the warmer months, during the daytime, this serum plus cream is the perfect amount of hydration and moisture to keep my skin feeling hydrated and dewy throughout the day, especially when used alongside the dewy face mist. The only thing to note is that this dewy serum can make the skin look oily at times if you use too much. 3 to 4 drops seem to be just the right amount. When using the two together One thing I noticed is that when I use these two products together, I find my skin can look much more oily throughout the day. I find myself oil blotting my inner cheeks around the middle of the day to control the appearance of oily looking skin. However, even though my skin looks oily, it feels light and nicely nourished. If you have dehydrated skin, these two products are the perfect pair to add into your routine for intensive hydration and nourishment without being too oily or heavy on the skin.
