Q&A

Not even a year into its release, the Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash continues to receive much love and interest for its innovative formula and unique powder-type texture.Because powder washes aren’t exactly the mainstream type of cleanser we’re used to, many of you have been giving us great questions about the green tea powder wash. To allow you to get to know more about what makes it a great cleanser, and for more insight on the formula and how to use it, we’ve gathered and answered some of the most frequently asked questions about the green tea powder wash!Q1. What are the main ingredients?A. Aside from green tea powder, which is a supercharged antioxidant rich in vitamin A, C and E to help regenerate damaged skin and soothe irritation, the powder was also stars en enzyme called papain, which has gentle exfoliating properties to eliminate dead skin and other impurities to overall improve the skin’s texture. Other main ingredients are sodium bicarbonate, more commonly known as baking soda, which is another gentle exfoliant effective in blackhead care, in addition to amino acid surfactants derived from coconut, which give the cleanser excellent hydrating qualitiesQ2. What is the pH level of this cleanser?A. Because this is a powder wash that is activated with water, the pH will differ based on the pH level of the water used to emulsify it. The pH of the green tea powder wash ranges from 5 to 7, depending on the acidity or hardness of the water, which usually varies based on the country, weather and other factors. In general, it is a low pH cleanser that works to maintain a balanced pH level in the skin.Q3. Does it have a hydrating finish?A. Yes! As mentioned above, the green tea powder wash is a weak acid cleanser that cleanses away excess oils and impurities from the skin, while not fully stripping the skin of necessary protective oils. This in turn maintains a balanced skin barrier, as well as oil water levels in the skin. Because of its exfoliation ingredients, you can say bye to blackheads and sebum, but still enjoy a hydrating feeling after cleansing.Q4. Other than cleansing, what other functions does it have?A. While the Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash is designed mainly as an everyday cleanser, it also works to fight acne through green tea and baking soda, while papain helps to gently melt away dead skin without any irritation to the skin. Overall, the ingredients work together to eliminate oil, sebum and impurities that can get trapped in the skin to cause blackheads, whiteheads and other types of acne. While it doesn’t directly target redness or pigmentation, it helps promote skin cell turnover and regeneration, for clearer skin over time.Q5. Is it suitable for sensitive/ acne-prone skin?A. Yes! Not only is this cleanser mild enough for those with sensitive and acne-prone skin, people regardless of their skin type, age and gender can use it without worry. However, as everyone’s skin reacts differently to the same products, we would like to recommend that those with very sensitive skin test the product, and decide how frequently to incorporate it into their routine. Even starting from 2-3 times a week, building up to using the wash everyday is a good strategy to use.Q6. How much powder do we need to use for each wash?A. For each wash, we recommend you use a small amount equal to that of the size of a quarter! However, the amount of product you choose to use is up to personal preference, and how much cleanser you actually decide you need for the size of your face.Q7. Does the powder dissolve fully?A. Yes! The powder dissolves fully upon contact with water, and working it within the palms of your hands will help it to lather and create bubbles which you can then use to cleanse with. However, some people actually enjoy the feeling of the small granules, and while the powder is soft and fine, when used at a half emulsified state, can also be used to gently provide physical exfoliation to the skin.Q8. What products should I stay away from when using this?A. Because the green tea powder wash is a mild exfoliant, we recommend you don’t use this cleanser with other products that have exfoliating ingredients such as retinol, high concentration of vitamin C, AHA, BHA, and more. The same applies to scrubs and physical exfoliants, which can make the skin more sensitive to the exfoliating properties of the powder wash.Q9. Can I use this everyday?A. Yes! This green tea powder wash is great for everyday use, both morning and night. But as we mentioned above, we recommend that those with sensitive skin test the product on their skin first, and depending on the level of irritation, if there is any at all, choose how often to incorporate the facial cleanser into their routine. It can be used as much as two times a day everyday, to as little as 2-3 times a week.Q10. What skincare products should I use before and after this?A. If you wear makeup, while we recommend that you cleanse first with a micellar water or cleansing oil first, you can also remove makeup with the green tea wash. Simply cleanse, and follow up with your skincare routine as you normally would with toner, serum and moisturizer to nourish and hydrate the skin after cleansing.
